GMC has devoted a considerable focus into their mid-sized product offering for 2004 led by an entirely new pickup. GMC has replaced their Sonoma compact pickup truck with a larger scale mid-sized model called the Canyon. Regular cab, extended cab and crew cab models of the 2004 GMC Canyon are included with the new product introduction. The GMC Envoy line adds a unique body style configuration with the XUV. The 2004 GMC Envoy XUV incorporates a retractable roof section and a MidGate partition that convert the cargo area into a pickup bed-like environment. Not all major changes to the 2003 GMC line-up are limited to the mid-sized models. The GMC Sierra also adds a Crew Cab model to the regular half-ton line powered by a 5.3-liter V-8 engine. 2004 also features the availability of a Vortec High Output model of the Sierra equipped with a 345-horsepower 6.0-liter V-8. On select large GMC models, an upgraded version of Quadrasteer four-wheel steering was introduced late last year providing greater stability.
