The S-Series model that led Saturn into the marketplace back in late 1991 has been replaced by a new, longer compact car. Adopting the name Ion, Saturn's new entry-level vehicle would share more in common with other General Motors products than its predecessor but still retained a unique identity. The 2003 Saturn Ion arrived as a four-door sedan or a Quad Coupe (rear passenger access doors were incorporated behind the fully-function driver and front passenger doors). Adding some high-end options in 2002, the 2003 Saturn L-Series continues to aspire for an upscale family car buyer with an exterior update. A chrome grille and silver interior accents are part of the 2003 L-Series enhancements. Entering its sophomore year on the market, the Saturn Vue now offers a V-6 powerplant with two-wheel drive.
