Along with the design update, the 2002 Saab 9-5's available automatic transmission is now a five-speed gearbox. Turbocharged four-cylinder engined models of the 2002 Saab 9-5 are trimmed as the Linear and the performance-oriented Aero while a turbocharged V-6 is attached to the Arc trim. For 2002, the Saab 9-3 base level has been dropped resulting in the 205-horsepower SE Turbo model serving as the sedan and convertible model's entry-level trim.
