When the Acura brand was first created for the United States market, the luxury marque drew upon Honda vehicles initially developed for Japan. The Integra and the Legend were Acura's first sedans in the 1980s introducing premium equipment not presently found on Honda vehicles such as six-cylinder engine power. By the 2000s, Acura's sedan models adopted an alphabetical naming system. The Acura Legend was directly replaced by the RL becoming the brand's flagship sedan as well as an exhibition for Acura's high-technology including Super Handling All-Wheel Drive. Directly below the RL in the Acura line-up through the 2000s was the TL. Acura sold the Honda Civic based EL as an entry-level sedan until the TSX eventually took the spot. Starting in 2013, Acura's vehicle branding was again altered with the RL becoming the RLX and a new entry-level sedan arriving as the ILX. The Acura TLX replaced the TL in 2015 featuring all-wheel steer for front-wheel drive models. Since building their first premium sedans, Acura has infused a driver-oriented sport feel in the product line-up.
