2009 Volkswagen Tiguan
A new compact crossover SUV, the 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan features a turbocharged engine and European-influenced driving dynamics. The forward-wheel-drive VW Tiguan is powered by a turbocharged 2.0L inline four-cylinder engine that controls 200 hp and 206 lb-ft of torque. The S trim level provides a choice of either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission, while the SE and SEL trims come with only an automatic transmission but offer VW's 4Motion all-wheel-drive system as an option. EPA-estimated fuel economy for the VW Tiguan is 19 mpg city/26 mpg hwy and 21 mpg in combined driving. As Volkswagen Tiguan photos show, the SUV seats up to five passengers and features up to 56 cubic feet of cargo space together with a variety of convenient storage compartments. In addition to its impressive utility, Tiguan offers numerous advanced features including an adaptive front lighting system that turns the headlamps in the direction the vehicle is heading for improved visibility and safety. Safety features include antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front-seat side airbags and full-length head curtain airbags, while rear-passenger airbags are optional.
