For 2009, the Suzuki Grand Vitara , a small SUV, is updated with a new front-end design, rear disc brakes, driver information center and increased frame rigidity. Coming as either two- or four-wheel drive, the Grand Vitara is powered by a 2.4L I4 standard engine producing 166 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque, paired to a four-speed automatic or a five-speed manual transmission. Also available is a 3.2L V6 engine generating 230 hp and 213 lb-ft of torque, with a mandatory five-speed automatic. Seating five passengers, the four-door Grand Vitara offers base, Luxury, Premium and XSport rims. The base is equipped with features like automatic climate control, power accessories and side curtain airbags, while the XSport has a few extra items, including keyless startup, and the Luxury has upgrades like leather seating, among others. Suzuki Grand Vitara EPA-estimated fuel economy statistics range from 19 mpg city/26 mpg hwy for the 2WD I4 with a manual transmission to the 4WD V6 at 17 mpg city/23 mpg hwy.
