Now in 2009, stability control is standard on every Subaru Legacy except for the 2.5 GT equipped with the manual transmission, and all trims except for the base 2.5i get an upgraded nine-speaker audio system. In addition, the 2.5i Special Edition and the 3.0 R model make their debut. The all-wheel drive Subaru Legacy offers a choice of three engines: The 2.5i is powered by a 2.5L H4 engine producing 175 hp and 169 lb-ft of torque, the 2.5 GT features a turbocharged H4 engine cranking 243 hp and 241 lb-ft, and the 3.0 R engine highlights a 3.0L H6 pushing out 245 hp and 215 lb-ft. The Legacy 2.5i offers either a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic, while the 2.5 GT choices are a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic. Fuel economy estimates rate the 2.5i at 20 mpg city/27 mpg hwy and 22 combined, the 2.5 GT Limited at 19/24/21 mpg with manual or 18/24/20 mpg with automatic, and the 3.0 R at 17/24/20 mpg. Subaru Legacy standard safety features include antilock disc brakes, front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and front headrests. |
