New for 2009 is third-row seating for the Mitsubishi Outlander ES, while the XLS gets chrome exterior accents, automatic climate controls, Bluetooth and fog lights, and the SE gets chrome outside door handles, side sills and new fabric seats with leather trim. Available in either front- or all-wheel drive, the Outlander crossover SUV is available with one of two engines: a 2.4L four-cylinder engine producing 168 hp and 167 lb-ft of torque or a 3.0L V6 engine churning out 220 hp and 204 lb-ft of torque. The I4 engine comes with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), while the V6 trim is paired to a six-speed automatic with manual shift mode. With the standard third-row seat, the Outlander has a seven-passenger capacity. EPA fuel economy estimates for the I4 with CVT are 20 mpg city/25 mpg hwy, while the V6 with the automatic transmission gets 17/24 mpg. Mitsubishi Outlander safety features include active stability control, antilock brakes, daytime running lamps, and the Advanced Airbag System with six airbags. |
