Completely redesigned for 2009, the Mazda MAZDA6 features more power from its two engine choices and new larger physical dimensions, which are shown in MAZDA6 photos. The front-wheel-drive 2009 Mazda 6 is powered by either a 2.5L four-cylinder engine generating 170 hp and 167 lb-ft of torque or a 3.7L 272-hp engine with 269 lb-ft of torque. The six-speed manual transmission is standard on four-cylinder models, while a five-speed automatic is optional on all trims but the i SV, and a six-speed automatic is mandatory on the V6s. EPA fuel economy estimates are 20 mpg city/29 hwy and 23 combined for the four-cylinder with the manual transmission, yet the five-speed automatic increases those numbers to 21 mpg city/30 hwy and 24 combined. However, the V6 estimates are disappointing at 17 mpg city/25 hwy and 20 combined. Standard safety features on include antilock disc brakes, stability control, front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags. The MAZDA6 mid-size family sedan seats five passengers. |
