The compact 4-door Lexus IS 250 sport sedan goes through some minor updates in 2009, featuring interior and exterior styling modifications, an enhanced stability control system and upgraded suspension tuning. Lexus IS 250 standard features include a 2.5L V6 engine that generates 204 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque. Rear-wheel drive is standard, while AWD is available as an option. Transmission choices are a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic that is mandatory on the AWD. EPA fuel-economy estimates stand at 21 mpg city/29 hwy and 24 combined for rear-wheel-drive models with the automatic transmission, while the manual transmission reduces those numbers substantially to 18 mpg city/26 hwy and 21 combined. When equipped with AWD, the IS 250 gets 20 mpg city/26 hwy and 22 combined. While not the sportiest car on the block, the Lexus IS 250 is a terrific entry-level luxury sport sedan built with high-quality materials, capable handling, good fuel economy and seating for up to five passengers. |
