No significant changes are due for the 2009 Kia Rio, a subcompact that is available as a four-door sedan or hatchback in base, LX and SX trim levels. The base sedan features 14-inch steel wheels, a four-speaker stereo with CD/MP3 player and a satellite radio, while the LX adds air conditioning, power steering, a 60/40 split-folding rear seat and a tilt steering wheel, and the SX highlights fog lights, 15-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and upgraded interior trim. The Rio is equipped with a 1.6L inline-4 engine producing 110 hp and 107 lb-ft of torque, paired to a standard five-speed manual transmission, while a four-speed automatic is optional on all but the base sedan. Kia Rio EPA fuel mileage estimates come in at 27 mpg city/33 mpg hwy and 30 mpg in combined driving with the manual transmission, and the automatic gets 26/35/30 mpg. Standard safety features include front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags, while the LX and SX trims add adjustable rear headrests, and antilock disc brakes are optional on some upper-level trims. |
