For 2009, the 2-door, 5-passenger Honda Civic Coupe is restyled with a new front fascia, taillights, wheel design and seat materials. Civic DX, LX and EX models are powered by a 1.8L four-cylinder engine that produces 140 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque with a five-speed manual transmission or an optional five-speed automatic. For the Civic Si, Honda installed a 197-hp 2.0L engine and a six-speed manual transmission. Civics equipped with the standard 1.8L engine and the automatic transmission share an EPA estimate of 25 mpg city/36 mpg hwy and 29 mpg combined. Civic Si trims rate a 21/29/24 mpg estimate. Honda Civic safety equipment includes antilock brakes, front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and active front head restraints. During crash testing, the 2009 Honda Civic earned a perfect five-star rating for frontal impacts, while side-impact tests resulted in a four-star rating for front passengers and five stars for rear passengers. |
