The 2009 Honda Civic Sedan, a 4-door, 5-passenger car, now offers the sporty LX-S and thrifty DX trims. The Civic DX, LX and EX trims are powered by a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine that produces 140 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque, with a 5-speed manual transmission or an optional 5-speed automatic. The Si, however, has a 197-hp 2.0L engine and exclusive 6-speed manual transmission with a performance-enhancing limited-slip front differential. Honda Civic GX standard features include a 113-hp 1.8L engine fueled by clean-burning compressed natural gas, making it the cleanest mass production car for tail pipe emissions in the US. Having a cruising range of only 200 miles, the GX's Phill device allows refueling from home. Civic sedans with the 1.8L engine and automatic transmission share an EPA estimate of 25 mpg city/36 mpg hwy and 29 mpg combined. Si trims rate 21/29/24 mpg, while the GX gets 24/36/28. Standard are antilock brakes, front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and active front head restraints. EX and Si trims have 4-wheel discs, while the rest have rear drums. |
