New looks are in store for the 2009 Porsche 911 Carrera, including redesigned front and rear fascia; however, its inner beauty is also enhanced with new direct-injection engines, bigger brakes and a touch-screen interface in the center stack. Optional upgrades include an automated manual gearbox that replaces the Tiptronic automatic transmission, ventilated seats, Bluetooth, satellite radio and an audio connection package. Porsche 911 standard features include a 3.6L H6 engine that produces 345 hp and 288 lb-ft of torque, while the Carrera S gets a 3.8L-version of the engine pumping out 385 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. The 911 Carrera and Carrera S are available as either rear-wheel- or all-wheel-drive, the six-speed manual transmission is standard and the seven-speed dual-clutch PDK is optional. The manual rear-wheel-drive trims get 18 mpg city/25 mpg hwy and 21 mpg combined. The Carrera S coupe with PDK gets 19/27/22 mpg, while the cabriolet gets a bit less at 19/26/22.
