Primarily a carryover this year, the 2009 GMC Savana Passenger Van, available in quarter-ton, half-ton and one-ton weight classes and in regular and long wheelbases, is renowned for its exceptional versatility. The GMC Savana can comfortably transport eight, 12 or 15 occupants, depending on the trim. The 1500 is powered by a 5.3L V8 engine that produces 301 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque, while the 2500 achieves 367 lb-ft of torque. The 3500 is propelled by a 6.0L V8 generating 323 hp and 373 lb-ft of torque. All engines are joined to a four-speed automatic transmission. Most Savanas are rear-wheel drive, although all-wheel drive is offered on the 1500. GMC Savana Passenger Van standard safety features include antilock disc brakes, frontal, driver and right-front passenger airbags, head/side-curtain airbags providing coverage for first three rows, and enhanced-technology glass for the fourth and fifth rows when equipped with 12- and 15- passenger seating. For the 3500, GMC adds a standard stability control system. Fuel economy is an estimated 12 mpg city/16 mpg hwy.
