For 2009, the GMC Acadia, a full-size crossover SUV, offers a more powerful engine, Bluetooth connectivity and real-time traffic updates for the navigation system, while heated/cooled seats and a rearview camera now become options. Available with either front- or all-wheel drive, the Acadia boasts a new 3.6L V6 engine with direct injection that generates 288 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. The FWD Acadia achieves an EPA fuel economy estimate of 17 mpg city/24 mpg hwy and 19 mpg in combined driving, while the AWD gets one mpg less. When properly equipped, the towing capability of the GMC Acadia is 4,500 pounds. Standard safety equipment includes antilock disc brakes, stability control, front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and the OnStar communications system. Spacious and highly versatile, the GMC Acadia seats up to eight passengers.
