The 2009 Dodge Nitro is midsize SUV with 4-doors and room for 5 passengers. Changes in 2009 include stiffer rear-axle shafts and suspension for improved handling. New 2009 Dodge Nitro standard features include floor mats, auto-unlock when exiting and a rear dome light. The SLT and R/T trims now have remote-express-open front windows. The base engine is a 3.7L V6 attached to a 4-speed automatic. A power 6-way driver's seat is standard as are an AM/FM/CD/satellite radio with 1-year SIRIUS radio service, steering wheel mounted audio controls, 17-inch aluminum wheels and a front-passenger fold-flat forward seat. The V6 produces 260 hp and gas mileage is rated at 16 city/22 hwy. The optional 4.0L V6 produces the same 260 hp, but it is mated to a 5-speed AutoStick transmission, which delivers a better balance of fuel economy, torque management and overall shift responsiveness. The 4.0L V6 is the standard engine on the Dodge Nitro R/T. The 2009 Dodge Nitro is a safe vehicle thanks to standard electronic stability control and anti-lock brakes. |
