The 2009 Dodge Avenger is a 4-door, 5-passenger sedan with a sporty appearance. For 2009, the Dodge Avenger has reduced-interior-noise levels, a cabin air-filter system and sunglass holders throughout all trims. A leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, a rear spoiler, fog lamps and ABS are now standard on the SXT and R/T trims. The R/T now has 18-inch chrome wheels standard. The base model Dodge Avenger has a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine under the hood. This generates 173 hp and is controlled with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The R/T trim benefits from the larger 3.5L V6 and 6-speed automatic transmission; however, the 4-cylinder gets 21 miles to the gallon around town and 30 miles to the gallon out on the highway compared to 16 mpg city/27 mpg hwy for the V6. The 2009 Dodge Avenger standard features include a AM/FM stereo with CD/MP3 player, Sirius satellite radio, Multistage Front airbags, side curtain airbags, keyless entry and an electro-luminescent instrument cluster, which makes reading the gauges at night much easier.
