Brand-new for 2009, the Dodge Journey is a midsize crossover SUV, which is derived from the Avenger sedan and offers minivan-like conveniences while accommodating seven passengers. Available as only front-wheel drive, the base-model Journey SE comes equipped with a 2.4L four-cylinder engine rated for 173 hp and 166 lb-ft of torque coupled to a four-speed automatic transmission. With a choice of front- or all-wheel drive, the SXT and R/T trim levels are powered by a 3.5L V6 engine that generates 235 hp and 232 lb-ft of torque mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift control. EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings give the FWD SE 19 mpg city/25 mpg hwy, while the other FWD trims get 16/21 mpg and the AWD gets 15/21.
