The 2009 BMW Series 3 sedan and wagon get new front and rear fascias, wheel designs and LED taillight, the coupe and convertible get a heated steering wheel added to the cold-weather package, and a diesel with a 3.0L, 265-hp 6-cylinder with 425 lb-ft of torque joins the line-up. The rear-wheel-drive BMW 328i and all-wheel-drive 328i xDrive are powered by a 3.0L inline-6 that produces 230 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque. The 335i and 335i xDrive have a different 3.0L inline-6 that is twin-turbocharged to produce 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. All models come standard with a 6-speed manual shifter, while a 6-speed automatic is optional. The 3 series gets17-18 mpg city/25-28 mpg hwy and 20-21 mpg combined. The 335i with automatic gets 17 mpg city/26 mpg hwy and 20 mpg combined. The manual transmission or all-wheel drive lowers those numbers slightly, while the 335d gets 23 mpg city/33 mpg hwy. BMW 3 Series standard safety equipment includes antilock disc brakes, stability control, run-flat tires, front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags. |
