Are you affiliated with Kelley Blue Book?

While our vehicle value guides are often referred to as the "NADA blue book," we are not affiliated with Kelley Blue Book. The term "blue book" is a generic term that has been used for years to describe a periodically issued price list. Consequently, the term "blue book" has become synonymous with vehicle valuation guides. NADA's yellow and blue value guide books offer pricing for automobiles, motorcycles, classic cars, boats, recreation vehicles and much, much more. Click here for used car pricing.
What is the Acceptable Mileage Range and how do I adjust for mileage falling outside of this range?

The Acceptable Mileage Range is the amount of mileage an automobile is expected to accumulate through normal use. NADA bases its mileage ranges on averages derived from information received from the automotive marketplace. If mileage falls outside of the acceptable range, then a deduction or addition should be made to the value of the vehicle. How much is up to you. The effect of high or low mileage will vary according to the class (size) of the vehicle. High or low mileage on a compact vehicle will have less impact than it will on a larger or luxury vehicle. In certain situations mileage can be misleading. It is possible to have either a high mileage vehicle in very good condition or a low mileage vehicle in very poor condition. In these cases, the overall condition of the vehicle should also be considered when adjusting the vehicle value.
How can I obtain a historical value from a previous month or year?

What does ‘salvage’ in the title of a vehicle mean, and how does it affect the value of the vehicle?

A "total loss salvaged vehicle" is a vehicle that has been wrecked, destroyed, or damaged to an extent that the registered owner, leasing company, financial institution, or insurance company which insured the vehicle, considers it uneconomical to repair the vehicle, and because of this, the vehicle is not repaired for the vehicle owner at the time of the event resulting in damage. Normally, this type of vehicle cannot be sold or transferred without first obtaining a Salvaged Title. Due to the many different ways a vehicle can be issued a salvaged title we cannot determine an amount or percentage to deduct from a value. A vehicle can be stolen and recovered with no damage at all, but it would be given a salvaged title nonetheless. Because of this, questions should be directed to the registered owner, leasing company, or financial institution. If you have questions it’s a good idea to check the history of a vehicle. A Vehicle History Report can confirm a clean history or reveal potentially hidden problems.

When obtaining a value for my boat, personal watercraft, or snowmobile how do I adjust for hours?

The NADAguides.com online consumer values are based upon the overall condition of the boat, personal watercraft, or snowmobile. For example, the hours of a boat will be reflected in its overall condition. Through our research, we have found hour meters to be very sensitive. In the boating environment and with the vibration of boats, hour meters can easily malfunction. And if a new meter is installed, it must be properly adjusted to include the hours from the old meter. The reading becomes unreliable if the proper adjustments have not been made. Need assistance buying, selling, financing, or insuring a boat? Let NADAguides.com help.
