2009 model year changes

All four models from 2008 -- CL550, CL600, CL63 AMG and CL65 AMG ? return for 2009. The CL550 gets all-wheel-drive but it will not be available on the other models. This year, the CL550 comes standard with keyless ignition and entry and heated/ventilated front seats. All CL-Class models now have gearshift paddles in place of gearshift buttons, as well as a hill-hold braking function.

Special features for 2009

The CL-Class cars are the ultimate combination of luxury sedan and race-qualifying performance. The CL-Class boasts the same elegant, luxurious interior design as the S-Class sedan: ample leathers, refined wood and metallic trim are part of its exquisite finish. The top-performance AMG versions, CL63 and CL65, appeal to those who value exclusivity and lap times yet still want the comforts of a true luxury vehicle. Ultimately, little comes close to the CL65 AMG, with 604 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque, it offers unparalleled power and performance to go along with the ultimate in luxury.
For 2009, the Mercedes Benz CL-Class large luxury coupes now have steering-wheel gearshift paddles, a parking guidance system and blind spot assistance. In addition, all-wheel drive is a new feature and Mercedes' 4MATIC all-wheel drive is now standard on the CL550. All other CL-Class trims are rear-drive only, noting that the rear-drive CL550 has been discontinued. The CL550 is equipped with a 5.5L 382-hp V8 engine, while the CL600 has 5.5L 510-hp V12 engine, the CL63 AMG has a 6.3L 518-hp V8 engine, and the CL65 AMG has a 6.0L 604-hp V12 engine. A seven-speed automatic transmission is standard on the V8 trims, while a five-speed automatic transmission is standard on V12 trims. The CL-Class is essentially a two-door coupe version of the four-door S-Class sedan. Mercedes Benz CL-Class safety features include antilock brakes, traction control, antiskid system, front and rear side airbags, and curtain side airbags. EPA-estimated fuel economy is 14 mpg city/21 mpg hwy for the base V8, while the V12 gets 11/17 and the V8 AMG achieves 11/18.
