Special features for 2009

The Mazda CX-7 is a sporty alternative for those shopping for a vehicle with more utility, but will not need to go off-road or do heavy towing. With an engine that's similar to the one that powers the high-performance MazdaSpeed3 and sport-sedan suspension, the Mazda CX-7 has the goods to take on curvy roads. With a curvier, more aggressive design than most other vehicles of its type, the Mazda CX-7 also makes a strong statement on style alone.
For 2009, the Mazda CX-7 five-passenger mid-size crossover remains unchanged except for a few modifications, including an auxiliary audio jack, and the Technology Package now includes Bluetooth phone capability and satellite radio, while the base Sport trim level no longer has a power driver seat. With either front- or all-wheel drive available, Mazda CX-7 standard features highlight a turbocharged direct-injection 2.3L four-cylinder engine generating 244 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque pair to a six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift capability. Typically, the AWD system supplies 100 percent of the engine's power to the front wheels; however, if the car loses traction, up to 50 percent of the power is quickly and automatically shifted to the rear wheels. EPA fuel economy estimates for the AWD are 16 mpg city/22 mpg hwy and 18 mpg combined, while the 2WD gets 17 mpg city/23 mpg hwy and 20 mpg combined. CX-7 standard safety features include antilock disc brakes, stability control, front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags.
