A new Monochrome Appearance Package is new for 2009, and there are several other appealing new features. Sirius Travel Link, a subscription-based information service that's integrated with the navigation system, is now available, Front Park Assist, a capless fueling system, rain-sensing wipers, heated second-row seats and a rear-view camera system are all now on the standard-equipment list. The Sync system, which allows a voice-activated hands-free interface with cellphones, PDAs and music players is also new for 2009.

The Lincoln Navigator is closely related to the Ford Expedition but offers a showier appearance inside and out. With a longer wheelbase than the regular model, the 2009 Lincoln Navigator L, a full-size, seven-passenger SUV, offers one trim that is loaded with luxury. Among its features are 18-inch alloy wheels, parking sensors, a power lift gate, a back-up camera mounted on the rear view mirror, leather upholstery, adjustable pedals, a power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, heated second-row seats, a second-row center console with climate controls, power-folding third-row seats, Sync and THX-certified 14-speaker audio system and power front seats with heating, cooling and memory. Available as either rear-wheel- or four-wheel-drive, the Navigator L is powered by a 5.4L V8 engine that pumps out 310 hp and 365 lb-ft of torque, with a six-speed automatic transmission as standard. The rear-wheel-drive Navigator L can tow up to 8,800 pounds when properly equipped. Lincoln Navigator L standard safety features include stability control with a rollover sensor, antilock disc brakes with brake assist and a full complement of airbags.
