Mazda's 2008 utility vehicles gain some noticeable upgrades. The Mazda Tribute is freshly restyled for 2008 and now offers the brand's first gasoline/electric hybrid powertrain in the United States. Fuel mileage for the 2008 Tribute Hybrid is rated at 34 miles per gallon city. The Mazda CX-9 is now powered by a 3.7-liter V-6 engine and offers the option of a Blind Spot Monitoring System. Refreshed styling and a five-speed automatic transmission have been added to the Mazda5. The small car line-up of Mazda is defined by minor changes for 2008. A tire pressure monitoring system is standard on the MX-5 Miata as well as the Mazda6 sedan. For 2008, side and side curtain airbags are now standard on the Mazda3 s Sport models. To celebrate the 40th year since Mazda's introduction of their first rotary engine production car, the 2008 model year features a special edition version of the RX-8. Painted in Metropolitan Gray with a Cosmo Red interior color, the 2008 Mazda RX-8 40th Anniversary edition is a limited edition model.
