There are many changes to the Jeep line-up in 2005 resulting in a redesigned flagship premium sport utility and several additions to their vehicle's powertrains. The all-new 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee gains increased tailoring to the luxury customer with improvements on cabin noise reduction. A new independent double-wishbone front suspension is incorporated on the Grand Cherokee for better on-road riding comfort. The 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee is powered by a new 3.7-liter V-6 or a 5.7-liter HEMI V-8. Providing a gasoline alternative, Jeep debuts the Liberty CRD powered by a 2.8-liter diesel engine. The first Jeep product to be offered in North America with a diesel engine option, the Liberty CRD model delivers a massive 295 pound-feet of torque. For 2005, the Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited is offered with a manual transmission that now features six forward gears.
