A diverse line of utility vehicles suitable for work and recreational use, the 2014 Polaris Ranger® provides gasoline, diesel as well as an electric powertrain. Standard equipped with four-wheel disc brakes, automatic transmission and a Lock & Ride cargo system, the Polaris Ranger® is offered in five very distinct models suiting almost any general-purpose utility vehicle customer. A carbureted 455 cc four-stroke engine generating 29 horsepower power the entry-level Ranger® 400. The 2014 Polaris Ranger® 400 includes an On-Demand all-wheel drive system and has a 500-pound cargo box capacity. A Polaris Ranger® 570 EPS Gold Mist LE model is also offered in 2014 featuring electronic power steering as well as cast aluminum Black Crusher wheels. Departing from internal combustion engine power, the 2014 Ranger® EV is an electric vehicle moved by an AC-induction motor. Generating the equivalent of 30 horsepower, the powertrain of the Polaris Ranger® EV can handle a 1,000-pound payload capacity and maximum towing rated at 1,250 pounds. At 108 inches in length, the mid-sized shape of the gasoline and electric Ranger® models allows it to fit inside the bed of most full-sized pickup trucks. Featuring a longer overall length than the electric and gasoline models, the Ranger® Diesel boasts a 2,000-pound towing capacity as well as a 1,500-pound payload capacity. The diesel powered utility vehicle is powered by a three-cylinder 904 cc powerplant.
