Offered in a 71 horsepower 8000R and an 85-horsepower 1000 model, the 2014 Can-Am™ Commander is designed for exciting recreational off-road riding. Riding on a fully independent suspension system, the 2014 Commander is constructed on a steel frame while a full roll cage protects the occupant cabin. At the rear, a dual-level cargo box accommodates a total of 600 pounds. Featuring electronic fuel injection and liquid cooling, the Commander 800R is propelled by a 799.9 cc Rotax V-twin engine while the 1000 model possesses a larger 976 cc powerplant. A continuously variable transmission is used to channel engine power across a selectable four-wheel drive system and includes a Visco-Lock differential. As a counter to the potent engines of the 2014 Can-Am™ Commander, the sport utility vehicle is equipped with the stopping power of hydraulic disc brakes. The Commander is available with DPS (Dynamic Power Steering) that electronically assists turning. Both the Can-Am™ Commander 800 and 1000 is also offered in well-equipped XT trim level that adds a 4,500-pounds Warn winch as well as a heavy-duty front bumper. For improved off-road management, the 2014 Commander 1000 XT-P model operates with Fox Podium X Performance RC2.0 HPG piggyback shock absorbers. Fitted with an air suspension system, Garmin GPS and a roof, the 2014 Can-Am™ Commander 1000 Limited is created for premium-level sport off-road riding.
