Similar to the Can-Am™ Outlander™ line, the 2012 Can-Am™ Outlander™ Max is identified for its standard two-up seating arrangement. Featuring the competent ride of front MacPherson struts and an independent trailing arm suspension at the rear, the 2012 Can-Am™ Outlander™ Max 400 and Outlander™ Max 500 both present attractive four-wheel drive utility. Powered by engines fed through electronic fuel injection, the 2012 Can-Am™ Outlander™ Max 400 is propelled with a 400 cc single-cylinder engine while the Outlander™ Max 500 features the robust power of a 499 cc V-twin. Featuring a front suspension upgraded with double A-arms allowing up to nine inches of wheel travel, the 2012 Can-Am™ Outlander™ Max 650 and Outlander™ Max 800R feature the highest output engines as well. With a 649 cc two-cylinder powerplant propelling the 2012 Can-Am™ Outlander™ Max 650, a 799.9 V-twin engine with the Outlander™ Max 800R generates 71 horsepower. Including a Warn winch and heavy-duty bumpers, the XT package is offered on all versions of the 2012 Can-Am™ Outlander™ Max line ATVs. All 2012 2012 Can-Am™ Outlander™ Max models with exception to the Outlander™ Max 400 delivers tri-mode dynamic power steering with the XT package. On 2012 Can-Am™ Outlander™ Max 650 and 800R models, an XT-P adds Air Control Suspension and aluminum beadlock wheels. A Can-Am™ Outlander™ Max 800R Limited variant is also available in 2012 featuring a unique two-tone seat and Garmin Nuvi touch screen GPS. All 2012 Can-Am™ Outlander™ Max models share a continuously variable transmission and full disc braking.
