NADAguides' 2010 Consumer Market Interest Report Reveals Biggest Interest Shifts in Trucks, Minivans and Hybrids

NADAguides, the most comprehensive vehicle information provider on the Internet today, announces its annual Consumer Market Interest Report – revealing that the biggest shifts in consumer interest came from the models within the Truck, Minivan and Hybrid segments.

Analysis of consumer market interest patterns on NADAguides.com from January through November, 2010 revealed Ford and Chevrolet led the pack with the 2010 Ford F-150 taking the overall most researched model, followed closely by the 2011 Ford Mustang and the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro.

Data shows that Ford, Chevrolet and Toyota models led consumer market interest on NADAguides.com overall throughout the year.

The NADAguides Analysts pointed out the truck segment saw interesting shifts as Toyota's Tundra and Tacoma gained consumer interest while the Dodge Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 slid slightly.  Additionally, heavy duty trucks saw an overall increase in interest with Ford's F-250 and F-350 up 13 percent and 22 percent, respectively.

Swagger Wagon interest shot up an astounding 84 percent as the Toyota Sienna led the minivan market research with moms and dads across the nation deeming it the cool kid hauler and an acceptable parental means of transportation.

In terms of hybrid market interest, Toyota's Prius led the way with a 45 percent increase in consumer interest over 2009.  The NADAguides Analysts partially attribute this to a heightened awareness of "environmentally friendly" vehicles this year as well as a facelift to the Prius' shell.

Consumer market interest on NADAguides.com parallels 2010 national sales trends as reported by Automotive News' top 10 vehicles sold from January through November.  The Ford F Series, Chevrolet Silverado, Ford Fusion and the Toyota Camry, all of which made the NADAguides' top 10 list, were also among the top 10 selling vehicles during the first 11 months of the year.

As expected, the new 2011 Buick Regal, 2011 Ford Fiesta and 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee shot up the list as consumers took interest in these new models.

Key Quotes

  • Don Christy, Jr., NADAguides president and CEO:  "For the domestics, we have seen the interest climb as they take advantage of their improved brand perceptions, product quality and their ability to deliver a product that the consumer marketplace is demanding and in need of.  Brand loyalty amongst the top brands has seen slight increases as well which has contributed to their research levels on the site."

  • Jim Farley, group vice president, global marketing, sales and service, Ford Motor Company: "This is another significant milestone for our customers and for the Ford brand. For us to be researched to such a high level alongside some of the best companies in the world is very rewarding. We believe it is recognition of the momentum of high quality, fuel efficient and smart new products coming from Ford Motor Company that will continue to differentiate the company as a leader."

  • Chris Perry, vice president Chevrolet marketing:   "2010 has been a great year for Chevrolet, with vehicles like the Camaro, Equinox, Cruze, Volt and Silverado HD contributing to our best sales performance in years.  This data validates what we're seeing in Chevrolet showrooms across the continent, and adds to our momentum as we roll into 2011 and beyond."
