Corvette Speak

Posted by Karen Kirby on Thursday, August 07, 2008 2:02 PM

2004 Chevy Corvette AKA "Black Beauty"

For many years, my husband spoke Spanish, French, and other languages, and then he learned to speak "Corvette," an interesting dialect of English filled with V8 5.7L/346 350 @ 5200 RPM 360 @ 4000 RPM, and other such terminology.

I, on the other hand, was speechless when I first saw "Black Beauty" – our nickname for our black on black 2004 Corvette convertible. It was love at first sight. We had to own this car.

The first time I drove it, I really fell in love with Black Beauty. It was the most amazing drive – so close to the ground that you felt you were part of the road. With the top down, you also felt part of the sky. I loved the "VvvvvRooooommm." I loved driving curves. In fact, I loved everything about the car.

Since our kids are in college and we are pretty much the two of us, the Corvette is perfect for tooling around town, as well as taking long road trips along the coast to Torrey Pines. The clubs fit perfectly in the trunk. I found a scarf in my closet, so I could cover my hair à la Doris Day for our excursions.

We still keep our other cars. But nothing comes close to the low, guttural vroom of the Corvette on road trips down the ocean coast and up through the mountains.  See many other beautiful classic and new Corvettes at NADAguides.com.

Well I can relate to this story, minus the Vette-ness.

Any type of passionate ownership leads to the same excitement.

My "Vette" is a 65 Impala SS. Driving (which I do as much as possible) it is endless smiles, my trunk can hold a corvette, and my girlfriend also has a scarf for when we're on the highway with all four windows down on the pillar-less coupe!

Loving your ride is the best thing for coping with driving, traffic, people, life, work, stress, anything! Turn the key, head out (use your blinkers!) and just go!
