Custom Road Test Review: 2009 Hurst Challenger Series 4

Posted by Jeff Glucker on Sunday, August 30, 2009 9:14 AM
2009 Hurst Challenger Series 4
The Hurst Challenger Series 4 is a limited-production “gentleman’s hot-rod”.

If you like cars at all, you have most likely stumbled across an automotive auction on TV. Auction workers screaming at bidders interested in a low-mileage piece of automotive history. I am currently in the driver’s seat of a rumbling and gurgling piece of future automotive history, the 2009 Hurst Challenger Series 4. A supercharged beast of a modern muscle car that will be built in very limited quantities. This car that I have been given the keys to is wearing a dash badge reading “No.00001”. Don’t expect too many low-mileage examples in the future though; Hurst is building these bad boys to be driven daily. For one great weekend, I did just that. More...

Road Test Review: 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8

Posted by Jeff Glucker on Friday, January 09, 2009 1:32 PM

2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8
A modern shape based on a classic design, the 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 is a good looking car.

I was born in the year 1980. This means I was "lucky" enough to grow up around cars like the 1981 Ford Mustang with its three-speed automatic transmission and 120 hp V8 (the lowest ever for a V8 powered Mustang) as well as the 1982 Chevrolet Malibu with its 105 hp V6. I missed the Muscle Car era by quite a few years. I was sad about this right up until I was handed the keys to a 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 Limited Edition. More...

Fewer Choices for Car Leasing

Posted by Tara Baukus Mello on Thursday, July 31, 2008 8:48 AM

Leasing a car has just become a bit more difficult. Several companies, including those that handle leases for Chrysler, Ford and General Motors brands have either cut back or eliminated their auto leasing programs. Chrysler LLC, which sells Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep brands, discontinues its leasing programs through its lender Chrysler Financial as well as Chase Auto Finance as of July 31, 2008.

Chevy Camaro Returns to Flex American Muscle

Posted by Tara Baukus Mello on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 2:56 PM

It seems like it's been forever since General Motors (GM) said it was going to bring back the Chevy Camaro, and now it has finally unveiled the production version of the car, which is captured on GMtv video.

2010 Chevy Camaro
The 2010 Chevy Camaro (shown here) will mark the return of the Camaro since 2002.

Though car enthusiasts have long been talking about its return since the 2002 Camaro bit the dust, today's high gas prices make the idea of owning a big, brawny American muscle car less appealing than before. The good news is that the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro will be offered with two engines, both of which get pretty good gas mileage considering their power. GM Chairman Bob Lutz told the public recently on GM's FastLane Blog that ...

Saving Gas Mileage & Money on a Rental Car Road Trip

Posted by Jeff Glucker on Monday, July 07, 2008 12:27 PM

A car road trip needs only a few things to be fun: good music, great friends, and a terrific destination. But these days, if you don't want to break the bank, you also need a car with good gas mileage.

For a recent car road trip, my wife and I decided to rent a higher gas mileage car than our 2001 Nissan Altima. After reading NADAguides.com's recent picks for the Best Road Trip Cars, our first choice was a Toyota Prius; unfortunately none were unavailable. Sure an exotic rental would have been fun, but the speeding ticket would have been very expensive.

Instead, we rented a 2008 Dodge Avenger SE, which has EPA-estimated gas mileage of 21 mpg city/30 mpg highway. On our 790-mile road tr...
