Volvo S70 Models and S70 History

The S70 was introduced in 1998, the renamed version of the popular 850 sedan by Volvo. It offered a new style, new body colors, better side impact safety features, new turbo engines to choose from, an updated suspension and a brand new interior. In 1999, Volvo added ABS with four-channel Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), head-protecting side impact airbags, two-stage front airbags and an updated grill emblem, as well as new side moldings, side mirrors, bumpers and door handles. An upgraded engine with a new transmission was the only major change for 2000.
