In 2006, the Volkswagen Rabbit would get its hatchback cousin, a beefed up Golf. The model boasted new interior and exterior styling with enhanced suspension and a brand-new powertrain. Nominal updates were made for 2007, including: an auxiliary audio input jack for MP3 players, iPod integration and simpler cruise control functions. Nothing major was in store for 2008. But in 2010, the Rabbit got a new six-speed automatic transmission and a stability control system.
An affordable and well-built hatchback available with two or four doors, the 2008 Volkswagen Rabbit has upped the power in its 2.5L four-cylinder engine but fuel economy is still solid with 29 mpg on the highway.
