Nissan Frontier 4WD Models and Frontier 4WD History
The soon-to-be best-selling Frontier pickup truck officially was introduced by Nissan in 1998. For 1999, two King Cab models were added with a new and beefier V6 engine under the hood. A lineup expansion in 2000 saw 11 new models added. A new style was injected into the 2001 model, with a long list of trim updates including a new engine to choose from, larger wheels, a security system, new interior options and plenty more. An updated gauge cluster and the new Frontier Crew Cab Long Bed trim were keynotes for 2002. Crew Cab models got the optional "Open Sky" top in 2003, with new airbags (dual stage), and options for a stability control and a tire pressure monitoring system. Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) was made standard, and all King Cabs got ABS. 2004 saw no major changes. But in 2005, Nissan unveiled an all-new Frontier with a new body style and a more powerful V6 engine, an improved interior cabin, and new off-road options.
