Introduction

Honda has introduced its Accord Tourer Concept at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show. Not intended for the North American market, the Tourer is indicative of the design direction for the next-generation Accord. It is expected to go on sale in the UK in mid-2008. (The North American version of the 2008 Honda Accord-in sedan or coupe version only-is in showrooms now.)

Each generation of the Honda Accord seems to increase in size, and the Accord Tourer Concept is no exception. It offers both a wider cabin for more passenger room, and a wider track for better handling.

In Europe, a range of advanced, low-emission engines are offered on the Accord. The all-new Accord will be one of the first cars to offer an entirely Euro 5-compliant engine lineup. Consumers may choose between two 4-cylinder gasoline engines, of 2.0-liter and 2.4-liter displacement.

A next-generation 2.2-liter diesel will also be offered in the new Accord. According to Honda, this "i-DTEC" engine uses world-first technology, including more efficient exhaust gas recirculation and a diesel particulate filter, to reduce emissions to a level equal to that of a petrol engine.

Production versions of the UK-designated Honda Accord Tourer will debut at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show.
