Introduction

The new 2014 Nissan NV200 is a compact cargo van aimed at small business owners.

Exterior Features

Form follows function when it comes to the 2014 Nissan NV200, a vehicle wearing front-end design shaped for aerodynamics, body sides to provide space for commercial graphics and signage, and a cargo box to deliver maximum volume combined with a 186.2-inch length. The NV200 features low-effort dual sliding doors, rear 40/60-split doors that open to 90- or 180-degree angles, wide-angle side spotter mirrors, and 15-inch steel wheels. Nissan will offer five exterior colors for the new NV200.

Interior Features

The 2014 NV200 is designed to carry 123 cubic feet of cargo, and to accommodate 40- x 48-inch standard pallets. The cargo area features standard integrated mounting points for installing racks, shelves, and floor hooks, while the van's center console is designed to hold a laptop or hanging file folders. Even the dashboard offers recessed areas intended for folder or document storage.

The NV200's interior is upholstered in gray cloth. The 6-way manually adjustable driver's seat features a manual lumbar adjuster, and the front seats are equipped with wear patches for improved durability. The front passenger's seat folds in half to carry longer items. Power front windows with automatic operation are standard, along with a CD player, auxiliary audio input jack, and two speakers.

Optional Features

Nissan NV200 buyers can upgrade from standard S trim to the SV model, which includes power heated side mirrors, power door locks with remote keyless entry, and cruise control. The SV model also provides a cargo floor mat, cargo hooks mounted to the cargo floor, an extra 12-volt power outlet, and full wheel covers.

Options for the NV200 include an Appearance package with body-color trim and chrome accents, rear door glass, Bluetooth hands-free calling, and a Technology package with a navigation system, XM satellite radio, and a reversing camera.

Under the Hood

Nissan will install a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine in every 2014 NV200, but horsepower and torque figures are not final as this preview is published. A continuously variable transmission will feed the power to the front wheels, and Nissan says the NV200 will provide a 1,500-pound payload capacity. Notably, this is the same powertrain that will be installed in New York City taxi versions of this model, which features a 150,000-mile warranty for taxi duty.

Safety

Six air bags, a traction and stability control system, and anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution come standard on the 2014 Nissan NV 200.
