For 2013, the Subaru Tribeca 7-passenger crossover is available in one trim level, the Limited. Most of the available features are included as standard equipment, though buyers do have their choice of a few options.

Exterior Features

The 2013 Subaru Tribeca Limited's collection of standard exterior amenities includes 18-inch alloy wheels, heated power-adjustable turn signal mirrors, fog lights, rear wiper and spoiler, and a windshield wiper de-icer.

Interior Features

Comfort and convenience features abound inside the 2013 Subaru Tribeca, with examples including a 10-speaker, 385-watt premium sound system, 7-inch information display, heated power front seats with 8-way adjustment and memory for the driver and 4-way adjustment for the passenger, dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, leather upholstery, 40/20/40 split-folding and sliding second-row seat, and a 50/50 split-folding third-row seat. There's also a leather-wrapped tilt steering wheel with integrated audio controls, as well as electroluminescent gauges, rear air conditioning, and keyless entry.

Optional Features

Subaru offers three factory options for the 2013 Tribeca, including a touch-screen navigation system bundled with a rearview camera and auto-dimming rearview mirror. Those items can be accompanied by a rear-seat entertainment system offering a 9-inch monitor, wireless headphones, and auxiliary video inputs. The third option is a Moonroof package comprised of a power tilt/slide moonroof, roof rails, and a rearview camera connected to a 3.3-inch display.

Under the Hood

In an effort to cut weight, the 2013 Subaru Tribeca is equipped with an aluminum hood, beneath which is a 3.6-liter horizontally opposed 6-cylinder Boxer engine that delivers 256 horsepower and 247 lb.-ft. of torque. An AWD system is standard, as is a 5-speed automatic transmission featuring manual shift control.

EPA fuel-economy estimates for the 2013 Subaru Tribeca are 16/21/18 mpg (city/highway/combined).

The 2013 Subaru Tribeca's standard safety features include 6 air bags, traction control, front active head restraints, daytime running lights, 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, brake assist, electronic brake-force distribution, and a new brake override system designed to limit the possibility of unintended acceleration.

In tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the 2013 Subaru Tribeca received a "Good" rating--the Institute's highest--for moderate frontal-offset crash protection; the Tribeca also received a "Top Safety Pick" designation from the Institute. As this preview is written, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has not rated the crashworthiness of the 2013 Subaru Tribeca.

For models equipped with the optional rear-seat entertainment system, shifting the Tribeca's transmission into park allows the front 7-inch dash-mounted screen to serve as a second display.
