Mitsubishi Eclipse Models and Eclipse History

"For 98, the GSX trim would now boast a sunroof and powered front seats with remote entry. Shuffling of trims and optional equipment earmarked the 99 body year, with a few new options added and many previously optional add-ons made standard. Completely overhauled for 2000, the Eclipse took on a more curvaceous and sportier look and feel with a newly available and more powerful V6 engine. The carmaker did away with the turbo-boosted engine as well as the all-wheel-drive option. A new vanity rear spoiler, child seat tether anchors and better emission standards were introduced in 2001. While 2002 yielded subtle changes, 2003 would feature a brand new GTS model with a 3.0-liter V6 engine.

The car also got a redesigned fascia in the front and new lights in the rear. The only major change for 2004 was the addition of a seatbelt light in the instrument cluster. A few new trims were added, like the REMIX edition, for 2005, which featured a powerful Infinity sound system with signature 16 alloy wheels and chromed exhaust. In 2006, the Eclipse was entirely redesigned, offered with new standard features and an array of options and trims to choose from. While minimal changes were in store for 2008, the Eclipse got a new all-black bumper and rear wing for 2009, with minor updates made to the upper-end trims. 2010 would yield only updates to the optional packages and trims, while alloy wheels were made standard in 2011, alongside a blacked-out roof. No major changes were in store for 2012. "
