Mercedes-Benz introduced the GL-Class in 2007, offering a large, luxury SUV to compete with rivals like Infinity. It featured seating for seven, a premium interior and a 335 horsepower V8. The GL550 trim was added to the fleet in 2008, offering a V8 engine with 332 hp. A diesel-powered GL320 Bluetec model was added to the fleet in 2009, replacing the GL320 CDI. Mercedes-Benz also added iPod integration and updated the rear-seat entertainment system, GPS system and COMAND interface. A slight increase in torque for the GL-Class and some minor updates to trim levels rounded out the changes for 2010. A restyled bumper and the addition of a blind-spot monitoring system were the key updates for 2011. LED running lamps were added as a standard feature for 2012. A completely redesigned GL-Class hit showroom floors in 2013. Following the new design, the 2014 model was virtually unchanged.
