The GS 430 by Lexus saw some sweeping changes for the 2001 model year. New airbags (front and side) were added, as well as a passenger detection system. New child seat anchors were added, as well as a glow-in-the-dark emergency trunk release and door locks that could detect impact. The exterior received new styling changes, a new grille, bigger tips on the exhaust system and new alloy wheels. HID headlights became the standard feature, and audio controls on the steering wheel were introduced, as was a new GPS system. Four new body colors were also included in the lineup. There were no changes for 2002. In 2003, Lexus added leather seating, a moonroof and heated seats (front) as standard features. Model years 2004 and 2005 saw no major changes. In 2006, a completely redesigned GS 430 was released, boasting new improvements, more power and a plethora of new luxurious features. The 2007 GS 430 got a new Active Stabilizer system and an updated stability control system.
The 2007 Lexus GS 430 is a luxury five-passenger mid-size sedan with a 4.3L V8 powering the rear wheels and advanced standard safety features like electronic stability control and brake-force distribution.
