The 2000 GS 300 saw a few notable changes made, including child seat anchors on the rear bench and special low-emission certifications. Several new body colors were also offered, including Crystal White and Millennium Silver Metallic. The 2001 GS 300 got a brand new engine, a 4.3-liter V8 that could produce 300 horses and an impressive 325 pound-feet of torque. New shifter buttons were added to the steering wheel, and standard side curtain and front airbags were added to the model with passenger detection sensors. A few other changes were made, including trimmer headlamps and taillights, with optional HID bulbs, a new GPS system, and optional wood trims. A new Mark Levinson audio option was also added, as well as new body colors for buyers to choose from. No changes were made for the 2002 model year. In 2003, Lexus made the moon roof standard as well as adding wider tires and a CD changer to the dashboard. The 2004 and 2005 model years had no substantial changes. In 2006, Lexus announced a brand new GS 300 that offered a 3.0-liter V6 engine capable of turning out 245 horsepower.
