INFINITI G20 Models and G20 History

The Infiniti G20 debuted in 1991 as a sedan combining premium-grade comfort and steady four-cylinder engine performance. Spawned from the European-sourced Nissan Primera, the G20 Sedan became the Infiniti brand's entry-level vehicle powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. A five-speed manual transmission and multi-link front suspension were standard on the first generation Infiniti G20 that was sold from 1991 to 1996. An all-new Infiniti G20 emerged for 1999 featuring a smart, simple style and rode on a sophisticated suspension that emphasizes stability. Generating 140 horsepower at the point of vehicle's introduction in 1999, the second generation Infiniti G20's engine would be upgraded to 145 horsepower in 2000 thanks to double-tipped platinum spark plugs. A new Sport Package equipped with leather upholstery and European-style 16-inch wheels was made available for 2002. With progression in the mid-level luxury sedan ever-evolving, the Infiniti G20 was replaced by the more powerful G35 in 2003.
