Ford Freestar Cargo Van Models and Freestar Cargo Van History
Ford's introduction of a heavily-revised minivan in 2004, the Freestar, also inspired the basis of a new cargo van. The Ford Freestar Cargo Van is heavily derived from the passenger-oriented minivan sharing the same exterior styling and the 3.9-liter V-6 engine. Unlike the Freestar passenger van, a more powerful option of a 4.2-liter V-6 powerplant would never be available on the cargo van variation of the vehicle. With the absence of the second and third passenger seating rows, the Ford Freestar Cargo Van serves commercial enterprises with a maximum cargo volume of 132.3 cubic feet. When the Freestar minivan was dropped by Ford in 2008, the cargo van version of the vehicle was also dismissed. The successor to the Ford Freestar Cargo Van would be the European-sourced Transit Connect small van.
