Chrysler LHS Models and LHS History

Serving as the luxury flagship of the Chrysler line-up, the LHS was introduced as a replacement to the Imperial in 1994. Constructed on Chryslers innovative LH platform, the first-generation LHS four-door sedan was designed as a direct competitor to the Lincoln Continental, Infiniti Q45 and the Lexus GS 300. For 1999, the Chrysler LHS was redesigned and reintroduced as the brands luxury flagship. Similar in shape to the Concorde sedan, the 1999 Chrysler LHS wore a distinctive front grille and was 1.7 inches shorter than its corporate counterpart. Also unique to the Chrysler LHS was a large six-cylinder engine.

A 3.5-liter V-6 powerplant gave the sedan premium-grade momentum producing 253 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque. A four-speed automatic AutoStick transmission allowed the motorist to manually shift the LHS for a sport-like driving feel. As the premium sedan in the Chrysler line-up, the LHS came heavily equipped with standard features.

On the outside, 17-inch aluminum wheels, four-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock braking system and heated mirrors were included. Inside the Chrysler LHS five-passenger, leather-trimmed interior, automatic climate control, power windows, trip computer, universal garage opener as well as an AM/FM audio system with cassette and CD player is standard amenities riders can expect to find. The second-generation Chrysler LHS lasted for only three years and was retired after 2001. The Limited version of the Chrysler Concorde was introduced in 2002 to fill the luxury car void left by the LHS.
