Existing as a largely bare-bones pickup, the Chevrolet C/K 1500 Work truck existed purely to provide an affordable trustworthy jobsite companion. Introduced in 1990, the Work Truck package inclusion with the Chevrolet full-sized pickup truck line-up gave thrifty individuals and businesses a low-key but useful vehicle. Offered only with a regular cab Fleetside body configuration for 1998, some of the notable design attributes of the C/K 1500 Work truck is advertised by a blacked out grille and bumper, plain steel wheels as well as rectangular sealed beam headlights.

6.5-foot and 8 foot bed box lengths were offered on the pickup truck. The interior of the 1998 C/K 1500 Work truck was also a recipient of a no-frills philosophy. Vinyl bench seating and an AM/FM radio were found in the three-passenger cabin. Using the Chevrolet C/K pickup’s entry-level 4.3-liter V-6 engine generating 200 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque, the 1998 Work Truck package was only available with a five-speed manual transmission. The 1998 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Work truck did offer a choice of rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive.

Fuel economy was admirable with the 1998 Work Truck package model of the C/K 1500 with the rear-wheel drive model capable of traveling up to 21 miles per gallon during highway driving. Some standard features found on the C/K 1500 Work truck included four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, power steering and intermittent windshield wipers. The C/K 1500 Work truck was discontinued after the 1998 model. However, the idea of a Work Truck package would be reintroduced with the Silverado full-sized Chevrolet truck.
