The 1998 Ram 2500 was the first truck of its kind that was offered with four-doors. Integrated new front seatbelts separated the Quad Cab seats. The interior was completely overhauled, too, with a new side airbag cut-off switch and depowered airbags all around. In 1999, the “express down” feature was added for powered window models, and ABS was made a standard feature for 10,000-pound plus haulers. An updated steering and suspension system was unveiled for 2000, alongside several new packages. A new Cummings turbodiesel engine (optional) was introduced for 2001, offering 245 horsepower and 505 pound-feet of torque. In 2001, the Ram 2500 was entirely redesigned, carrying over to 2002 as an all-new model that offered more power, better towing performance and enhanced handling with more effective safety equipment.
Slight changes to optional equipment and packages were in store for 2003, and the Magnum V10 engine was discontinued. In 2004, the popular Power Wagon model was introduced, offering powerful add-ons and custom suspension, tires and towing options. No major changes were in store for 2005. In 2006, the Mega Cab trim was introduced. It offered an array of luxurious interior features, like a rear DVD entertainment center. The 2007 model year saw the addition of the optional 6.7-liter turbodiesel engine that was rated at 350 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. 2008-2009 yielded no major changes. But in 2010, a brand new designed was unveiled.
