About 718 Boxster

Since its 1997 debut, the two-passenger, mid-engined Porsche Boxster has cemented a strong sports car reputation almost as legendary as the larger 911 model. In 2017, Porsche integrated their two smaller sports cars (the Boxster and Cayman) under a uniformed brand. Descending from a race car campaigned by the factory from the late 1950s through to the mid 1960s, Porsche introduced the 718 nameplate into their production lineup. Coupled with the inauguration of the new branding, the Porsche 718 Boxster also received a series of upgrades. The biggest change came with the replacement of flat-six engine with new turbocharged four-cylinder powerplants. A 2.0-liter flat-four engine produced 300 horsepower for the base 718 Boxster (a 35 horsepower improvement over the sports car's 2016 counterpart). For even greater performance, the Porsche 718 Boxster S launched with 350 horsepower from a 2.5-liter engine equipped with a variable geometry turbocharger. Many of the body panels of the 718 Boxster were new for the 2017 model year with redesigned side skirts and larger air intakes. The interior was also reworked including a Porsche Communication Management unit as standard equipment. Upgraded suspension, improved brakes and a retuned exhaust also came on the 2017 Porsche 718 Boxster.
