MINI Clubman Models and Clubman History

Mini first employed the Clubman in 1969 as then-parent company British Leyland as a modernized version of the original Mini. For 2008, the MINI brand under BMW ownership revived the Clubman name. In its latest iteration, the MINI Clubman is a lengthened version of the two-door Cooper. The wheelbase of the first generation Clubman was 3.2 inches longer than the conventional Cooper hatchback, the added length supplied better rear passenger legroom or increased cargo capacity. When the rear seat was folded, the 2008 MINI Clubman featured a storage volume of 32.6 cubic feet. Along with the longer length, the Clubman was defined by unique split rear doors (often referred to as barn doors) and a rearward hinged third door located on the car's right side. In 2009, a 208-horsepower John Cooper Works version of the Clubman joined the extended vehicle line-up. Maintaining its rear barn doors but reshaped into a true four-door, the second generation MINI Clubman emerged for the 2016 model year. Interior space grew as much as 47.9 cubic feet of cargo room is available on the new model. TwinPower Turbo Technology incorporated with the new Clubman translates into potent and high fuel efficiency.
