About GS
Debuting in 1993 as the third Lexus-badged model in history, the GS sedan's debut features a design based on the artistry of Italdesign's Giorgetto Giugiaro. Available from 1993 to 1997, the first generation Lexus GS 300 was powered by a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine and comfortably equipped as a luxury vehicle. The original four-speed automatic transmission was replaced by a five-speed unit for the 1996 model year. The midrange sedan gained a bolder, new design for the 1998 model year as part of a second generation re-engineering. Along with the six-cylinder powered GS 300, a 300-horsepower V-8 propelled GS 400 was introduced (replaced by the GS 430 in 2001 with a larger displacement engine). For the third generation Lexus GS debuting in 2006, the sedan gained available all-wheel drive as well the hybrid gasoline/electric GS 450h. The V-6 engine's displacement grew in 2007 while 2008 featured an enlarged V-8 for the newly-designated GS 460 sedan. Redesigned for 2013, the Lexus GS's edgier style featuring the brand's new spindle grille was offered as the GS 350 and GS 450h model. The eight-cylinder powered GS was dropped in 2013 but would return three years later. For 2016, the Lexus GS lineup expanded with the GS 200t featured a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder generating a respectable 241 horsepower and the high-performance GS F. Propelled by a 5.0-liter V-8 engine pumping out 467 horsepower, the top-end 2016 Lexus GS F optimized performance tuning included features like a carbon fiber rear spoiler, Brembo braking and optional Torque Vectoring Differential.
